1 Analyze Job
When you're uncertain about which skills to feature on your resume, start by thoroughly analyzing the job description. Employers often list specific skills they're looking for in candidates. Use this as a guide to tailor your resume, ensuring that the skills you include align with those requested in the job posting. This not only shows that you're a good fit for the position but also demonstrates that you have paid attention to the employer's needs and have done your homework.

Resumes should be tailored to the role for which you are applying. Taking the time to read the responsibilities of the role and then emphasizing your strengths and accomplishments in those areas will go a long way. Having a 'generic' resume will not tell the recruiter or hiring manager why are the best fit for that particular role. Having said that, however, networking is still key to finding that next role. Research the company, find people on those teams and reach our to be noticed. Trust me. It works better than submitted a resume along with 500 other people. Stand out. Advocate for yourself

2 Reflect Honestly
Take a moment to honestly reflect on your abilities. Consider the skills you've acquired through past experiences, including work, education, and volunteer activities. Identify which of these are transferable to the job you're targeting. Remember, soft skills like communication, problem-solving, and teamwork are often just as important as technical abilities. Be truthful with yourself about your proficiency levels; overestimating your skills can lead to challenges if you're hired.

3 Prioritize Relevance
Prioritize relevance when selecting skills for your resume. The most pertinent skills should be listed first or given more prominence. This can mean differentiating between core skills that are crucial for the job and supplementary skills that enhance your candidacy. Also, consider the industry you're applying to; certain skills may be more valuable in specific sectors. Keep in mind that relevance can often trump quantity, so focus on quality.

When choosing skills for your resume, prioritize relevance above all else. Place the most pertinent skills at the forefront or give them more prominence. Distinguish between core skills essential for the job and supplementary skills that bolster your candidacy. Honestly speaking I don’t agree with this part! The only person who can give you an honest and professional feedback about your skills is a CV writer and preferably an HR professional. An HR is an expert in this field and it’s better to get feedback from the expert 💪🏼

To include the appropriate skill in a CV or a profile, I advise cabdidates to have a look at the job requirements so they can amend the 'skills section' accordingly. If candidates are not able to do so, they can check with an HR professional.

6 Format Wisely
Lastly, format your resume wisely to ensure the skills you've chosen to highlight are easily noticeable. Use clear headings, bullet points, and strategic bolding to draw attention to key skills. Consider a dedicated skills section or weaving them into your experience descriptions to show how you've applied them in practical situations. A well-formatted resume makes it easier for hiring managers to see why you're the right fit for the job.

Pay attention to the skills listed in the job description. If you have the skills that are listed in the requirements section, then make sure to add those skills on your resume. Many candidates make the mistake of listing a bunch of skills they have but tend to fail on listing the skills the potential employer is looking for as listed in the job description. So make sure to tailor your resume to all job descriptions. Good luck to all the job seekers!

Future employers aren't interested in everything you have ever done - they want to know what you can do for them. Add relevant skills, those that match what the new job is looking for. Do not add skills which don't relate to the new job. Be selective! Adding those extra skills signals that you may not have read or understood the posting, or that you may not be satisfied doing what the job wants you to do. Take the time to customize your resume for the job you are looking at, and show the hiring team that you have what it takes to do the job they need done
