Language has been a surrogate sensorium that gives more refined access points to features of
reality than do my senses. Painting, I am visually anticipating the effects of language in my eyes’
desire for, and failure to perform, temporo-syntactical maintenance.

Laying paint thinner over ruled lines, post-words’ hilly drifts magnetize prolonged looking. I end
up wanting to see what I only have when I read: in the habit of attending language without
comprehending, in a readerly rhythm that I want to feel.
