I’ve rounded up a few favorites I’ve found throughout the year in hopes of helping you and your child with one of their first big assignments.
My Experience with “100 Days of School” Projects.
“When did it start being a thing?” asked my friend Jen, as she posted this photo of her son on Instagram. None of us are sure of the answer, but if you can’t beat ’em you might as well join ’em.
When Julian was in kindergarten, Julian and I used the 100 Days project as an excuse to go trick-or-treating. We cut the pieces of fabric into 100 square-ish scraps (actually, he took them and I cut them). Then we pinned them to a square piece of fabric. And then we sew. Not the most impressive craft, I know.
We keep it simple. It has only ten running stitches in the entire fabric. In my over-ambitious crafter mind, I was going to make this pillow for her after we got it home from school, but she’s in second grade now and I still haven’t figured it out.
Then, I came home and found that some other crazy pants (and I say “crazy pants” with the utmost respect for their creativity) parents had made these amazing projects with their kids. Feeling inspired, put together a list of ideas for next time! And, here we are…
15 Amazing 100 Day Project Ideas
1. Make 100 Legged Rainbow Centipede Friends
This simple and colorful craft is the perfect way to bring 100 to life! All you need are pipe cleaners and painted 4″ styrofoam balls to make your 100-legged centipede. Of course, some googly eyeballs are also available. Check out the idea on Pinterest here!
2. “Plant” a Pot of Lollipop Flowers for the 100 Days of School Project
I’ve never met a kindergartner who didn’t love lollipops. So I bet your little one will be thrilled to help make this 100 Day of School project (as long as you can keep the lollipops from being eaten before they get to the classroom)! You use a planter with foam in it and stick 100 Dum Dums in it.

3. Create a 100 Eyed Monster
This monster is really cute! I guarantee my little monster, Liv, will want to make this for her next 100th Day of School project. All you have to do is cut out a monster, then your child can help choose the shape and glue on 100 googly eyes!
After all, nothing beats a good pun; “The eye has seen for 100 days!”
4. Fill a Gumball Print Out with 100 “Gumballs”
If you want to keep it nice and simple, this is a great way to liven up the 100. However, I would trade in the paper cutouts colorful pom-poms!
5. Up Up And Away 100 Day Project
I love the idea of making a cape for your kindergartner to wear to their 100 Day Celebration. No one knows better than this mama that 100 days really fly by!
6. 100 Melted Crayons
This project can be messy, but it sure looks good! You simply glue the crayons to the poster board and then hold a blow dryer over it. Here’s a great creative example from Pinterest!
7. Handmake 100 Days T-shirts with Tally Marks
The concept is simple, now you just have to decide how you want to do it. The first step; choose a plain white t-shirt. Then iron or draw 100 tally marks. Check out more details for this craft here!

100 days of school definitely makes your kindergarten crown worthy!
